The Hive is the only social place for kids. You go round in parks and stuff but there’s really not much to do.

Some people get pulled into gang activity or they start breaking into houses, causing mayhem, because there’s nothing to do.

There should be more youth zones, more activities after school to get them off the streets.

Ella, 14
Local school pupil

I am looking forward to what Cradle to Career will bring to the local community – the people here are amazing and deserve to be heard.

Lauren Leman

Maybe to the young people growing up, the rubbish and the glass and stuff doesn’t give a good perspective. But I feel safe because I’m part of the community.

School is good for your self-confidence. The people inside, the teachers, they really support you. You’re never on your own really, you just feel like you’re a part of it.

Callum, 15

Local school pupil

I grew up in the North End of Birkenhead and I love the sense of community – people look out for each other and support each other when times get tough.

Learning Skills and Employment Manager for Wirral Council
